Valentine's

Since it is Valentine's weekend, I thought I would post a pic or two of my littlest Valentines. They were happy to celebrate and even got a surprise pkg. in the mail from one of their grandpa's. There was lots of fun as they looked at their books and played with the bakery. Aliyah got some new accessories to add to the bakery.

Also, I'm including a picture of the PF Changs that we love so much!

Josh sent me flowers bless his heart, but he was disappointed when it had so many carnations. He told me that he asked the lady how many roses it had and it the lady said 8. Turns out, she was counting anything red as roses--lol. He wanted roses and stargazers since we had stargazers in my wedding bouquet--he likes to do that. I told him it was just fine and that I knew what he meant!!

At church today, we were pleasantly surprised when Aliyah's name was in the bulletin and her picture was shown during the service on the video wall for being a Well Versed Kid. It made her feel special, even though she didn't really know what to do when people congratulated her besides smile shyly.

This afternoon, Aliyah, Keirah and I all prayed for this little baby Veiyah . She is in emergency surgery right now and reading her and her family's story has really been moving. Read her story and "dirty your knees" as they ask in the blog.

Another week

Yep, another week of winter has gone by. Actually, this one was decent and felt like spring.
Josh surprised me on Wed. night and informed me that we were going to Chicago on Thursday to celebrate V-Day. He works all weekend. I was excited. We ate a super lunch at PF Changs and got to shop at many of my favorite stores. On the way there, we got to stop by and see our former-neighbors. We love our current neighbors, but we miss these neighbors as well. If only we could get them to move back! Good neighbors are such a plus and a blessing.

My cabinets are in--early!! Josh plans to bring some home tonight and he will begin installation on Monday after work. EXCITING! He installed a cool keypad lock on our back door. It is awesome. We got the aged bronze or whatever it's called. It's really dark and we like it. We liked it so much that we decided to get a new lock/handle set for the front door that is the same color. This has a cool handle with a lever button that you push. Sorry, I don't know what it's called.

Not much else comes to mind at the moment--oh yeah the President came to town yesterday and we LEFT town--LOL. This is the second time in less than a year that a sitting President has come to visit. We did notice on the highway that there was an alert that we could expect closures. They close the highways/roads down as the President travels them. I wouldn't know why since the car is armored and he wasn't riding in the limo.

This is a shout out to Josh's co-worker "S" who told me tonight that she checks in on my blog. That's exciting cuz sometimes I don't know if anyone even reads. If nothing else, we have a little blog of reminders of stuff we did.

February sun

I can't remember the last time we had so many beautiful days in February. I am totally loving this!! What a breath of fresh air! The snow has melted away. Yes, the grass is brown and the trees are bare, but I can remember again what warmth feels like! We have enjoyed it. Walks have returned for the time being as well as playing outside--hooray! The adults need the outdoor time as much as the little ones. That Vitamin D in the sun does a body good that's for sure. The warmth also will make our energy bill go down even if only a little.

Aliyah has less than a month left of first grade. She is reading like a pro and asks me if she can read to me. I often hear her reading her regular books to Keirah--that's cool! We are looking forward to long evenings outside and the start of our flower gardening & landscaping. I also haven't forgotten about Aliyah's little science project to finish up the year. She will be planting all of the seeds from my last year flower garden to see if we can get some nice little flowers going. Once they get established (hopefully), we will plant them outside. Her green thumb was great outside, so hopefully it will be inside as well.

I am looking forward to my additional cabinets coming in this week & next. Our countertop is in, however I have not seen it. Josh has seen it and says it looks great. I can't wait for him to install it all!! It will really help with more cabinet space.

We're also planning our other little projects for the spring. We are going to spruce up the landscaping and close in our breezeway making it into more of a 3 seasons room.

My kids are looking forward to V-day. Josh and I will celebrate another time I suppose since he works all weekend. I have some cute little things for the girls. Aliyah had fun making a few Valentine's at grandma's the other day and Keirah made us the cutest one at church. She is so proud of it and so are we!

Dad's Job

My dad find's out next week if he gets laid off or gets to keep his job. Please pray for my parents and that my dad gets to keep his job. This happened with the same company when I was little and it made it pretty rough. I just hope that they don't have it happen again!!

Biscuit

We had a fun day today. A little shopping and spending time with family and a fun dinner with Kate for her 16th as well as her family. I think we overworked the kitchen or something--ha. It's hard to believe that she turns 16 tomorrow--WOW!! Let's slow down things because before we know it, ours will turn 16. Happy Birthday Kate!

Target was one of our stops today. My girls love reading the Biscuit books. Ever since they started showing commercials for the dog Biscuit on TV, Aliyah has wanted one. The caveat...he cost $179.99--umm no! Target had several leftover after Christmas that they had started to put on clearance. Even at $89.00, we were waiting. After all, they had 21 of them and we didn't figure they would sell out even if they were put on clearance. We went last week and the toys were at 75% off. NO BISCUIT DOGS anywhere.

Today, we went there to pick up some new DVD's. When we arrived, my mom said, "I bet you will find Biscuit today". I said that I doubted that since they were all gone last time. We actually think they sent them back to HQ or something because they are still $179 on Target.com. Anyway, near the end of our little shopping time, I happened to see one!! Only $45.00 now!!! We got it and the girls are LOVING him. He is pretty realistic and LARGE!! He does all kinds of stuff both touch sensored and voice command.

It is cold here again. I say cold because it kind of felt warm at 35 degrees! Now it's back in the teens!! Come spring, come soon!!

BTW, no Denny's today. It was too crowded and no way were we going to stand in a line and wait for that.

Free Breakfast

Tomorrow from 6am-2pm you can go to your local Denny's and get a FREE GRAND SLAM BREAKFAST. Denny's is trying to gain back a good customer base in tough economic times. I love breakfast food so we may try this. Remember Tuesday, February 3, 2009 to get your free breakfast.

SUPER Sunday

So what are we doing on SUPER Sunday? Well, my sweetie is working today so it's us girls. I'm so glad that I spent yesterday cleaning and doing laundry. Now, I can chill today!
We are melting--the snow is I should say and WE ARE GLAD!! The girls got about 30-40 minutes of outdoor time yesterday. They wanted to jump on the trampoline, however it had a mini ice pond in the middle. We are in a heat wave--it got up to like 45 or 46 yesterday. Today feels "decent" as well.

A local children's boutique sent me an email that they were having a Super Bowl sale. It was an extra 30% off the sale price. We went to check it out since we were nearby. I managed to find some cute stuff and most importantly a girly--chandelier-ish hang-down light for the girls room. I had been looking for one and didn't expect to find one. They love it!

Since I'm not a huge fan of football (I don't understand it very well), I will turn it on and work on my Shutterfly Christmas book that needs finished. Once Josh comes home, he will surely watch since he LOVES football. The team he roots for was in the SB about 5-6 years ago and yeah they are pretty much losers now--lol. His team is the RAIDERS. Yes, we are from the midwest, however my husband's grandfather was THE broadcaster for the Oakland Raiders, LA Kings, and Golden State Warriors. He is Harry Caray famous on the West Coast. That fact alone I think was enough to make him a lifelong Raiders fan.
