Yes, it's February and I'm talking hearts. I am talking about Aliyah's heart. It is so big and loving. She has been excitedly telling us about this project that her Sunday School class is doing for a little boy named "Carlos". I do not know much about Carlos except that he speaks Spanish and that he and his family need help. The kids in Aliyah's class are to see if they can do any chores at home to earn money to give Carlos and his family.
To see her love and enthusiasm and big heart for helping are just priceless. She is earning money and will begin taking it each week. The way she talks about it, you can tell this is something from her sweet heart. They want to help Carlos be able to go to school and help his family. She has earned $4.80 so far this week and is counting the days until Sunday when she gets to take it to church. Of course, she is working on earning more. I know that she prays for him too. The thing that makes my heart so happy is she knows that Jesus always answers prayer. She told me the other day that it's either yes, no, or wait. Oh to be able to learn from that child-like faith!!
On a funny note, I purchased some Babysitter's Club books for her this summer at a garage sale. I put them away as I think that they are a few years older "story-wise" than age 7. The reading level is no problem at all. Well, she apparently found them and began reading as the following sign was placed on our front door by Aliyah: "Need a babysitter, call the babysitter's club at xxx-xxxx (our number)". I about died laughing. I have since put them up again. She is a bit young for that still =).
