Missin' the South

After an impromptu trip to St. Louis this weekend, it made me realize that I miss the South. Now, I know St. Louis isn't that South, however it was south enough from where we are to experience a 20-25 degree temperature swing. At this point, 20-25 degrees more is big! They didn't even have much snow. We got there and took off our coats. In fact, we laughed as they talked about how you might need to layer for the Mardi Gras parade they were having. The expected high was like 36 or something--LAYER???? The sun was shining and once we arrived at the mall the girls were complaining of being too hot. You see, we have had a teens and zero degree winter overall.

What do I miss about the South?? Well, the sun and warmth! The beaches are quite missed as well. Several years ago, Valentine's Day found me at the beach with my girlfriends having a fun time. The Groundhog would have to see more than his shadow for anything like that to happen around here.

It's funny that on the way through St. Louis, I had the window down a bit and was enjoying the fresh spring-like air. We hadn't crossed over very far into Illinois before the temperature reading in the car went down, down, down...all the way home.

Anyway, we had fun on our little trip to St. Louis, we had PF Changs, rode the Carousel at the mall, visited grandpa & grandma, swam in the pool, and ate at Macaroni Grill.

Are you catching the Olympics? So far, we have enjoyed seeing all of the medal wins. I must say that for the winter games, short track speedskating gets me excited and nervous like watching those swimming races in the summer. Maybe Apolo is the Phelps of winter. One thing about winter games though...the sports are MUCH MORE dangerous--WOW!! Yet another reason for me to dislike winter =). I love the Olympics though! I somehow doubt that this time around we will magically stumble upon/get to see in person the medal winners from these games like we did for the Beijing games. The medals from Beijing were huge in person and they didn't look that large on television...the Vancouver medals look ENORMOUS so I can't imagine how big those must be.
