What to do next? What do I do with all of this stuff? Well, there's so many options. More than ever before I feel.
There's the good old Goodwill option (not really a fan of that anymore). Reasoning...all of the stuff is given to them and they put a PREMIUM price on it!! Goodwill is more expensive than what I could probably purchase at a store on clearance. I don't enjoy shopping there and I don't. I've been once since college, but I get my info on pricing from those who go. I just can't get past the odd smell that exists there. Smells turn me off quicker than almost anything...lol.
If not the Goodwill option, then there's friends or family who may need items you have. I really like that option because it is helping someone else out! I like it when people think of us so I try to pay it forward and think of who may need something that I no longer do.
Now, if you have friends with boys and you have girls, then not everything translates easily. Friends that have boys won't really enjoy my children's Littlest Pet Shop stuff =). Sometimes, the giving to the friend doesn't work either.
Garage sales...if you have time. However, they are a lot of work and can be very annoying! I'm pretty much done having them due to what I will describe below!
Ebay...in the past I liked EBay until they started charging so much to sell and began being so Pro-Buyer and not Pro Seller.
Craigslist...an option I have been using a lot lately. It has ups and downs. Stuff moves well and at a decent price. Sometimes people don't show and sometimes it is inconvenient.
The newest option that I have discovered is selling on Facebook. In our area, there are several groups where you can sell your items. It is easier than all of the methods of selling that I have listed. Also, stuff moves very quickly! Even items that don't move well at garage sales or ebay or C/L can move well on the FB groups.
Type "for sale in..." and then fill in your city or a popular name for the region in which you live. Some states have other wording like "Buy, Sell, Beg, Barter etc...
Anyway, you make an album, put a location/price and let people comment and get selling. In our area there are 4-5 different pages that I have discovered. One group is close to 9,000 members and the others are smaller but growing. Think about it 9,000 people in your area looking at your stuff!! That's more traffic than ebay listings!
Anyway, I have done every method/option that I have listed here and clearly, my current selling faves are the FB Groups & C/L. It is a great way to bring in some extra cash for your family while organizing and getting rid of items you no longer need.
I would love to know what you have tried and succeeded with or which of the above methods you plan to try.
