Iguanas & Puffy Paint

Do you remember several years ago or even decades ago when people used to get a shirt and some applique' that they wanted and outline the edges with puffy paint? It was sometimes glittery and definitely colorful. I must confess that despite weird hair-do's I never did have or want any puffy paint items. Well, that's me...but my husband on the other hand was sharing details of one of his favorite childhood outfits.

I must confess, I wish I had pictures but we don't. He really thought iguanas were super-cool and his mother sewed a lot of clothes. Now, I'm not trying to put-down anyone who sews because many do it well. Somehow, though, I doubt this was really cool looking. Picture it, fabric with brightly-colored iguanas all over it. He had matching shorts & a shirt. To top it all off, the iguanas were outlined in puffy paint--on a BOY!!!! I wasn't aware that boys participated in the puffy paint trend of the 80's. That's ok I suppose, he thought it was super-cool at the time. He recalls getting to wearing his favorite outfit to school on the day when he didn't have to wear a Catholic school uniform. Someone said something about "cool lizards" on his clothes and he corrected them by telling them they were igauanas. To top it all off, he had a beetles haircut complete with plastic glasses with some tape.

Looking back, Josh says he must have looked like a --well I won't tell you what he said. To tell you the truth--he probably did!! Fortunately, his tastes have changed A LOT since the iguana outfit and I don't sew or cut hair. All good things must come to an end I suppose.
