One of my absolute favorite things about our home (that is original from when we moved here) is the honeysuckle vine. If you know anything about me, you know I love flowers and gardening. They are a great way to relieve the stress of the day and be outside (which I also love).
Back to the vine I mentioned. I didn't know anything about the vine when we moved in because it was almost non-existent. We had a lot of overgrowth and bushes to remove from our landscaping to even notice it I think. The one corner of my yard was horrible. You couldn't even get to it for the trees/weeds/bushes. I was 8 months pregnant with my first when we moved here and didn't paint so I worked outside as we got the house ready. That was one of the first areas that I remember clearing out. The next spring, I started to notice the beautful vine that grew along the fence.
Every May/June it blooms a lot! The smell is heavenly. It is right outside the bathroom window. I love to open that window, turn off the lights and just drink in the smells and sounds of summertime. There was even a light rain tonight which made it so relaxing. The vine will also bloom again in August/Sept. It is my pride and joy of my garden and people love it. I haven't seen very many of them. It attracts bumblebees of course, butterflies, and hummingbirds. It is just GORGEOUS. There, don't all of you want to come over and get a start to grow your own?
When we put in a fence 2 years ago, my goal was to continue that vine along the fence. I wrapped a few small tendrils around various posts of that fence and would you believe...it has spread all the way across 4 new fence lengths in that short time!! It has grown to twice it's size since we moved here--thanks to the new fence.
I will continue to post more photos of my garden and my favorites. Ahh--glorious summer!
