Randomness

We found this so random and odd....

After supper at Chili's we headed out the door. It was a beautiful evening and people were sitting outside or talking outside. Aliyah came out first and saw a little girl and said, "oh look Keirah--a baby". The mother said, "they look about the same age". She told us that her little girl was 21 months. We told her that Keirah was 21 months also. We said yeah, September. She said "Carly was born on the 6th". We said, "no way" so was Keirah! Come to find out, they were born on the same day at the same hospital. Of 3 babies born on that day in that hospital in a large city--what are the chances that you randomly meet one almost 2 years later. We didn't meet them at the hospital or anything. Actually, I think they were probably across the hall from us. We chatted and laughed a bit at how random it was.

The next random happened a few weeks ago. For those of you that know me, you know that I will tell you that I am not Betty Crocker. That simply means that I don't really cook with cookbooks. I like/we like the food that I cook, however I don't own a cookbook nor do I really find great interest in it. Since Josh works many evenings, it is the girls and I. They eat like little birds anyway, so to cook a fancy meal is preposterous really. We pretty much eat simply.
I do have recipes for a few select things that may require it. If I don't, I call my mom and ask her what is in whatever I need the recipe for. Anyway, I arrived home from work to see a package on the front steps. I was curious as to what it was since the only item I had ordered lately had come the day before.
It was a decent sized box. It said "cookbooks" on the front. Ummmm--ok??!!?? What is this? I did not order this, so my mission was to find out how I must've accidentally been subscribed to something or been sent something in error. Turns out it was like this promotional box full of cookbook samples that you could put together for a civic/church group. It has some nice cookbooks in it. I told my mom that they picked the wrong person to send that one to. They are cool looking, but for now they have gone into my hall closet until I feel like looking through them. Random thing for me to get seeing my lack of interest in cookbooks. Maybe it's a sign that I should start making more exciting things. If it says "casserole" I'm out!
The nexgt random for today is from a couple of weeks ago. My mom and I had a garage sale to try to "lighten my house". It was rainy that day and my mom was out in the garage with the sale and I had come inside for awhile with the girls. She came in and told me that someone from college was outside and had been trying to look me up. I was kind of confused as I wasn't aware of anyone that was from this area that I went to school with. I went to college in Florida--we live in Illinois. I went outside and sure enough was a girl I went to college with for a year. I remembered that I worked with her there. She knew I lived around here because her husband works with my cousin. She remembered the last name from college. Well, she comes to my sale and her and my mom were talking and wow--the connections were made.
The last random for the this entry is from April. The local newspaper here lists divorces by county. On the week of my birthday in several papers was listed a divorce in MY county, with MY full name, and my husband's name. However, it was not us! Several people thought it was--but NO! We have been happily married for 8 years now =). Ironically, the same week as the divorce listing for MY name, a person with the same name as me also got engaged.
Funny and weird stuff huh. See if you can find some randoms in your life. They make life fun I suppose--a little out of the ordinary too!
