Gifts

Who doesn't love a gift?? Well, I'm not talking about the ones that are the wrong size or color or not in your taste. I'll explain...
Today has been rainy and dreary. I wasn't sad by any means, however a couple of events really gave me laughter and true joy not to mention smiles. It not only touched me but others.
Today is my dad's birthday. Aliyah loves birthdays and parties. She was at my mom's today and made it her effort to make it a special day for my dad. I got a call after lunch today from Aliyah asking me if I could pick up a balloon for my dad on my way home from work (she never calls me at work). I told her I could and asked her if she wanted to go. She said "yes". She even called me about 30 minutes before work ended to see when I was coming. I arrived at my parent's house to find that she had decorated and made signs and cards for my dad--all on her own. The back door said "grandpa's party" and had an arrow pointing inside. It was so cute. She had decorated with streamers and everything. She skipped out to the car in the rain to go with me to get the balloon. All of those thoughtful things on her part made me smile and grandpa was so happy when he came home from work. She told him "happy birthday" and gave him a kiss. There was a cute sign on his chair that read "Bears den". She built a fort next to it. I think he felt so special and blessed. We ate dinner with grandpa--lasagna...mmm!
The other cute event was Keirah wishing grandpa "happy dirbay grappa" over and over. We all laughed. This is the first person she has ever wished a happy birthday to.
Gotta love those gifts of love and thoughtfulness that come from a child's heart. Priceless!!

You are so right!
The very best gift we could ever receive is the unconditional love and happiness of our children!
I can picture your little girls at grandpas party, and skipping to get his balloon. You are truly blessed!
