Excited

I'm so excited to be on vacation! Josh's vacation starts tonight--once he gets off work. The weather is gorgeous and should be for most of the vacation. As I'm typing, I keep hearing "Veggie Tales, Veggie Tales, Veggie Tales, Veggie Tales". My soon-to-be 2 yr. old has developed a LOVE for buses and has the Veggies bus out. Big sis is still getting some shut-eye, and I am basking in the morning sun in front of our large window with the computer. I'm debating with myself about going to a Labor Day cookout...I want to go and we would be going if Josh were home, but the drive is what bothers me. It's a lot of country roads that I'm not at all familiar with and by the time it would be done...it would be more than dark. Although, volleyball is super fun. Then again, I don't want to make a side dish. But it would be fun. Can you see me debating this?
Other than that, I am going to clean my house, do some laundry, spend time outside, and maybe get stuff ready for my garage sale. My mom told me it is supposed to rain later in the week, but we shall see.
What's in a nickname...I think Keirah has a new one. Aliyah likes to call her "Taggie" or "Taggie Monkey". I am not sure why, but I'm going to guess it is because Keirah likes the Taggies products like blankets and such. The monkey part I understand...Aliyah also calls the 2 of them "the 2 funny monkeys"...which they are!
I need to pack things up today for Chicago as tomorrow morning will come quickly! I will do that AFTER I finish my projects for today around the house.
Oh yes, I have been doing a little project....you know all of those VHS tapes that take up so much room and are antiquated and basically no longer in use?? Well, there are some that we have things taped on that I just don't want to throw away...like sonograms, cheerleading in grade school, past Olympics, etc... I have been transferring the stuff from VHS tapes to DVD the past few days. It takes awhile because you have to let the stuff play out that you want to transfer. It has been fun at times to watch old things on tape...such as my peer-teaching tapes from college. WOW--10 years makes a difference in clothing/hairstyles etc... My daughter and husband both say that I look better now. My hair was a self-described "clown wig". The main reason for this was that I went to get a body wave in college and the hair salon totally screwed up and fried my hair almost to the roots by leaving it on too long. Well, since I couldn't/didn't want to get my hair cut that short, and I couldn't have it straight with it being that frizzy, I had to curl it. It was just--you know--kind of damaged looking. Anyway, once this project is done, I will not have any more VHS tapes and no more VCR. I have about 6 tapes to go I think. I even have one of my father in law on the Maury Povich show. I guess I had better get that one transferred--haha.
On another note, I decided to cook dinner the other night. I do cook, however with Josh's schedule it is rare that we have meals at night at home. I made beef & noodles, mashed potatoes (real ones), and brownies. MMMM. It had been a rainy day so that was perfect food for the day. Normally, we would grill out or eat something simple at home--not that this was a hard one but required a few more pots and pans =).
Also, thanks to Mimi, we rented a few Red Box movies. We watched "What Happens in Vegas"...I totally liked it! That Red Box rental thing is AWESOME--thanks MIMI for all of the great tips and samples and great stuff on your blog!! I am now a 100% Red Box fan--goodbye to the video store!!
Well, that's it for the moment. It would probably be a good idea to eat some breakfast! Happy Labor Day weekend, Happy last hurrah of summer! I'm sad about summer being almost gone!

I had the same clown hairdo when I was in college. I went to have my hair done at Lord &Taylor's chi chi salon and came out looking like Bozo. The hairdresser got her chemicals mixed up..I got free conditioning and styling at the salon for a year, but I had some puffy frizzed hair and tried to curl it on hot rollers. It was so hideous! Glad you liked the redbox!
