Funnies

Sunday is the day for the funnies right? The day when the whole comic section comes in the newspaper. I thought that my post would be funnies--to me anyway. They may not be funny to anyone else, but they brought a smile to my face and a laugh from my mouth.
I will start with the funny on the way to church. This was just a couple of blocks from my house at a major intersection. I will preface this with...our city is not very diverse. It is decent-sized, but there are about 95% of the same and 5% mix of anything else and that's probably stretching it at 5%. Well, I was stopped at the the red light, and what do I see coming through the turn lane?? A Grand Marquis or Crown Victoria...I'm sure it was one of those two. You know, the cars that the more mature folks love to drive? For some reason, the older people get the larger the car should be. These are probably the largest in the car category if you ask me--my grandparents have a new one and it's ginormous! Ok...back to the story. You know they are large. This one was white and looked funny to me. You see, it had GIGANTIC wheels--they made the car look small. They stuck out on each side and made the car way taller than normal. They must have been Escalade wheels or some type of truck wheels. They were white also just like the car. Well, they had "pimped" their ride I guess. It was the most hilarious looking custom rims with a car that I have ever seen. I know...probably not the funny...but you had to see it.
The next funny occurred a few Friday nights ago 2 to be exact. We have seen this on many a Friday evening typically around the time we are going out to eat or finishing. Outside the KFC, a group of 10-20 people stand and protest. They hold up signs with the following sayings, "Beaks cut off", "Chickens have feelings too"...you get the picture. When we saw them, I was like get out your cell phone and take a picture, Josh. Not fast enough. I went around the block and he got one. We just have to laugh. I guess these folks are from PETA, but my question is don't people have anything better to do on a Friday night than protest with strange signs at KFC? My statement to Josh was, man I'm glad that my chicken doesn't come with beaks on it...good thing they cut them off. If people stood for human life that vigilantly, we would definitely be headed in a much better direction!
Time for some light housework & garden work and a bit of rest. Two praises for the day...
1. Josh gets to take his vacation as scheduled--whew we need one!
2. Josh has a new assistant starting soon--this minimizes his worry about working a ton more hours. He's getting worn down lately between work and projects at home. I'm praying that he gets some opportunity in the next few days even for some down time and recharge time.
Chicago post II will come later when the monkeys are napping.
