Do you remember how the first weeks of school were spent getting established into the routine? I remember it well as a student and most recently as a teacher. Routines work great because it keeps things organized and moving along. Now, I don't teach in a school anymore, but I do enjoy being able to homeschool my daughter.
I wasn't ready to start school yet, but she was so we did. Yesterday and today I worked on schedules and organization. My goal is to finish the school year by March 6th. We will do it...we finished Kindergarten at the end of February. One thing I love about homeschooling is that it takes much less time per day. I think each day will take about 2 or 2 1/2 hours. This is so much shorter than a 7-8 hour day at school. Another great thing is that there is NOT homework. I literally dreaded school just for the homework alone. In high school, I would come home from practice, scarf down supper and spend the rest of the evening in my room just completing my homework. If it was a game night--I burned the midnight oil.
So far so good, she finished lesson 13 today--only 3 days in =). Since I work during the day, she visits grandma & great-grandma. We do school in the evening. While it is still nice outside, we also spend time outside playing and try to take a walk/bike ride each night along with the school work.
